History

For more than 35 years, Hunt Electric has expanded our business by building lasting relationships. The relationships with our clients focus on understanding their needs and offering creative solutions to ensure that we deliver high-quality work on schedule and earn their trust to become their electrical contractor of choice. Relationships with our employees center around the idea that as they enhance and improve their skills they expand and strengthen the company. That’s why we give them the opportunities and support they need to make the most of their careers.

1986
The Beginning

In 1986, Richard Hunt founded Hunt Electric, Inc., launching the company from his home with just one employee and a pickup truck. Those early years were focused on small, hands-on projects, which instilled in us a deep appreciation for quality craftsmanship and dependable service. Richard’s values then became the foundation of Hunt Electric’s mission: to provide superior customer value through a culture of Quality, Integrity, Performance, and Versatility—a standard that continues to guide us today.

1990-2000
Building a Reputation

Throughout the 1990s, Hunt Electric experienced rapid growth by staying true to our commitment to delivering superior customer value. During this time, we earned a reputation for the qualities that continue to define us today: exceptional employees, an unwavering focus on customer satisfaction, and a culture that prioritizes safety. Our reliability, adaptability, and dedication to safety set us apart—and above all, we became known as the company that keeps its promises.

2000-2010
Growing Our Capabilities

The 2000s were defined by building specialized expertise to meet evolving client needs. In 2003, Hunt launched its Technology Division, providing structured cabling and low-voltage systems. By 2006, three additional divisions were formed: Service, Industrial, and Traffic & Infrastructure, each expanding our ability to deliver turnkey solutions. In 2009, we also established our Prefabrication Department, creating assemblies in a controlled environment to improve project quality, consistency, and efficiency. By the end of the decade, Hunt Electric had developed a strong in-house foundation for delivering comprehensive electrical and technology services.

2015
Expanding Our Reach

Beginning in 2015, Hunt Electric expanded its geographic footprint to better serve clients across the Intermountain region. New offices in Denver, St. George, and Boise allowed us to deliver consistent service, tap into local expertise, and build stronger community connections while maintaining the high standards our clients expect.

2010-2020
Strengthening Expertise

The next decade brought even greater specialization. In 2012, Hunt launched its High Voltage Division, extending our capabilities into large-scale power distribution and utility infrastructure. By 2017, survey, detailing, and prefab efforts were unified into our Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Department, strengthening coordination between design and field teams.

2022
Innovation Through Collaboration

In 2022, Hunt Electric acquired Instrument Control Center (ICC), expanding our ability to manufacture custom electrical panels and control systems in-house and strengthening our integrated service offerings. Today, we continue to evolve by combining technology, innovation, and in-house expertise to deliver smarter, more efficient projects.
