Across the construction industry, prefabrication has become a defining force behind safer, faster, and more efficient projects. At Hunt Electric, we’ve embraced prefabrication as a process, one that connects our field teams, engineers, and Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) experts to deliver consistent quality from design to installation.
How It Works
Inside Hunt’s on-site prefabrication warehouse, our teams use coordinated 3D models and detailed VDC layouts to plan and assemble components before they ever reach the jobsite. Conduit bends, box assemblies, wire terminations, and kitted materials are all built and organized in a controlled environment. Each kit is labeled and delivered to the field ready for installation, reducing waste, downtime, and congestion on tight jobsites.
Solving Real Jobsite Challenges
Prefab helps us address two of today’s biggest construction challenges: manpower and time. With skilled labor in high demand, prefabrication allows Hunt to make the most of our workforce by shifting repetitive or labor-intensive tasks offsite to where they can be done safely and efficiently. It also shortens lead times by allowing parallel work: while foundations are being poured, our prefabrication team can already be assembling electrical systems.
Precision Through Technology
Our VDC team plays a central role in this process. Using BIM coordination, they map every conduit run, bend, and hanger location with millimeter accuracy. That model data then flows directly to our prefabrication tools, ensuring what’s built in the shop fits perfectly in the field. The result is fewer clashes, cleaner installations, and more predictable schedules.
A Safer, More Organized Jobsite
Prefabrication also makes jobsites safer and more productive. With materials pre-built and kitted, our electricians spend less time moving equipment or cutting on ladders and more time installing systems that arrive ready to go. The streamlined workflow helps reduce clutter and allows for tighter coordination with other trades.
A Process Built for Collaboration
Our team views prefab as an extension of project collaboration, not just a production method. By integrating our VDC, engineering, and field teams early in design, we can identify what elements make sense to prefabricate, balancing efficiency, constructability, and project goals.
At Hunt Electric, prefabrication is one way we bring innovation, safety, and precision to every project.
