The Topaz Data Center is a 200,000 square foot data center located in South Jordan, Utah. It is the largest data center of its kind in Utah. Work included complex electrical, distribution system, lighting, additional seismic controls, control/signal transmission media, and BIM. Hunt Electric provided BIM services for construction coordination and spatial planning for Topaz’s various scopes of work. Coordination between the multiple trades involved in this project was a detail-oriented process. In the end, BIM not only accelerated the construction phase, but also provided an accurate 3D as-built, with intelligent materials and equipment content.
